The Illegal Alien Amnesty Bills—the Flake-Gutierrez Bill HR 1645 already introduced in the House, and the McCain-Kennedy Bill, expected to be introduced soon in the Senate--pose a Grave Threat to the solvency of our Social Security System.

The Earnings of all Aliens, even those Illegal Aliens employed illegally, are reported to the Social Security Administration

Typically, the earnings reports for Illegal employees do not match a Social Security number, either because none has been issued or because a fraudulent SS# was submitted to obtain employment.

These "unmatched" earnings reports typically go into an Earnings Suspense Account, now totalling hundred of billions of dollars.

The law allows "later" issuance of a SS# when an Alien is finally authorized to work legally (and even after having worked illegally for some time), and allows "all reported earnings... even those from illegal or unauthorized work" to be used to determined eligibility for, and the amount of benefits.

Thus, if an Amnesty bill passes, all 25 million plus illegals would be authorized to work legally, and therefore could obtain social Security numbers, and therefore would have a claim for social security benefits based on all previous earnings, even those earned working illegally.

Simply put, such massive claim for benefits could bankrupt the Social Secuity System, thus jeopardizing the retirement income of millions of Americans who had worked legally and paid into the system all their working lives.
