Recently, legislation [H.R. 884] that could legalize some 1.5
million illegal aliens working in agriculture was introduced by
Reps. Chris Cannon (R-UT) and Howard Berman (D-CA). The so-called
"Guestworker bill" (in fact, an Alien Amnesty) also
has strong support in the Senate, where its version [S. 359] is
being touted by John McCain (R-Az) Larry Craig (R-ID), Dianne
Feinstein (D-CA), Ted Kennedy (D-MA), and Mel Martinez (R-FL).
The AgJobs bill would allow illegal immigrants who have worked
in agriculture to apply for "blue cards" that grant
them "temporary" legal status and put them on the road
to permanent legal residence, according to the Associated Press.
Since their spouses and children are eligible for the cards as
well, the bill could eventually lead to an amnesty for millions
more.
Indeed, the bill is likely morph into another version of last
year's McCain-Kennedy amnesty, which would have pardoned the vast
majority of the 25 to 30 million illegal aliens living in our
country and brought in 100 million legal immigrants over the next
20 years. After all, last year's version of the AgJobs bill was
included in the McCain-Kennedy Super Amnesty and Senator Kennedy
has said that is "our plan" for this new Congressional
Session
The bill also "streamlines an existing foreign guestworker
program" according to a January 10, 2007 McClatchy Newspapers
report. Of course, CCN Supporters all know what that likely means!
It likely means that the Open Borders crowd will try to push this
AgJobs Bill under the radar so to speak, and then, at the last
minute in conference committees add on the disatrous provisions
of last Session's McCain-Kennedy-Specter-Martinez et. al. Bill
which would force one hundred million or more new legal immigrants
down the throats of the American people. Senator Kennedy says
his goal is to have a bill passed and signed by this coming June!
Let's act now to nip another major amnesty in the bud!
Write, fax, or call your Members of Congress and let them know
that you opposed the AgJobs amnesty and any other form of amnesty
for illegal aliens. [Note: Your faxes need to come from your home
or office fax machines. Apparently more and more Congressional
offices are using blocking software to block faxes from one or
associated fax numbers!]
Also insist that they support a zero-net-immigration MORATORIUM.
Only PUSHING a MORATORIUM calls the whole enterprise of mass immigration
into question, defeats the Open Borders crowd's argument that"...we
can 'solve' the illegal immigration problem by legalizing them
all…" and thus puts maximum downward pressure on immigration
numbers.
