OPPOSITION INTENSIFIES ITS PUSH FOR MASSIVE
AMNESTY AND WELFARE BENEFITS FOR ALIENS,
WHILE UNEMPLOYMENT SOARS AND MASS IMMIGRATION
THREATENS NATIONAL SECURITY

Mexican President Vicente Fox renewed pressure on the Bush Administration for yet another amnesty of 3 million Mexican illegal aliens by the end of this year! Moreover, the Congressional Democratic Leadership is pushing for a larger, fully inclusive amnesty of an estimated 13 million illegal immigrants and visa overstayers.

245(i) and other amnesty advocates are intensifying their push to legalize hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, allowing them to qualify for residence and citizenship without adequate background and medical checks.

President Bush recently proposed letting U.S. taxpayers "foot the bill" for more than 2 billion dollars over ten years in order to restore welfare benefits, including food stamps, to immigrants. Why, CCN asks, do we continue to admit people who go on welfare?

At the same time, our deteriorating economy has already dumped millions of unemployed workers out into the cold. Yet the Congressional leadership of both parties and the Bush Administration push for more unnecessary workers. U.S. workers already lose $133 billion each year to wage depression and job loss as a result of unchecked mass immigration! This figure does not include the projected $932 billion net cost to American taxpayers from 1998-2007 resulting from continuing mass immigration.

While a fairly decent visa tracking bill has passed in the House, this policy will not reduce the staggering numbers of people flooding into the United States! Visa tracking alone cannot protect Americans. It is vital to remember the National Commission on Terrorism's finding that:
"the massive flows of people across U.S. borders makes exclusion of all foreign terrorists impossible." (June 2000)

If mass immigration and related trends continue, the United States' population of 288 million, already growing by 3.2 million a year with over 70% generated by mass immigration, will reach 500 million by 2050, and ONE BILLION by 2100.

We must reduce these numbers to help ensure national security, protect our environment, jobs, and economy!
CCN HAS A SOLUTION. . .
THE SOLUTION —

CCN and its ASAP! coalition allies' grassroots push for a moratorium last year stopped immigration-increasing bills "cold." Our continued push for H.R. 2712, with an amendment lowering the cap to an all-inclusive limit of 100,000 per year, not only generates pressure against all immigration-increasing bills, but also increases pressure to achieve substantial reductions in numbers.

For example, our moratorium push generated the necessary pressure against the 245(i) extension amendment to the House Judiciary appropriations bill to prevent the amendment's passage, and kept the Senate from passing a 245(i) version of its own. Our sources on the Hill tell us that our grassroots efforts stopped immigration-increasing bills last year, demonstrating that if we all unite behind a moratorium push we can achieve substantial reductions in numbers.

Support the Moratorium! Help push the moratorium bill, H.R. 2712, to increase its support in Congress— call, e-mail, or write your Representative, asking them to co-sponsor H.R. 2712 with an amendment for a 100,000 annual immigration limit. This is an election year! You will be heard!

Reassert the sovereignty of our borders! Urge your representatives to support House Concurrent Resolution 220 and remind pro-mass immigration advocates of their responsibility to protect America!

ACT NOW!

Your voice counts! Just one personal letter represents significant constituent opinion in any Congressional office. CCN is intensifying its congressional letter-writing campaign. Write to your Representative urging them to sign on to H.R. 2712 and H. Con. Res. 220. In addition, e-mails and faxes remain a significant means of demonstrating your continued support. Now is the time to push your local, state and national legislators back into our corner, so start writing today! (Go to our website at carryingcapacity.org and search our FirstGov service for news, contact information, model letters, and more!)

Increasing grassroots support is the only way to overcome pro-mass immigration special interests; thus it is essential for CCN to increase our grassroots clout through your gift memberships. The more grassroots activists push for a moratorium, the greater our immigration reduction clout on the Hill. Give gift memberships and help build a secure America for future generations!

This year will be critical in our battle to stop mass immigration. Donate to CCN and help us win the battle to reduce immigration numbers and help ensure a secure, sustainable future!

Note: CCN is anti-mass immigration but NOT anti-immigrant.
